Volkmar Herre präsentiert „FAZIT. Verzauberte Landschaft – Eine Reise ins Innere

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, the Stralsund photo artist Volkmar Herre offers insights into his many years of work with a video presentation. In five sequences we see how themes and style have changed in 50 years. The early Baltic Sea pictures are now historical, panorama pictures reflect his views of the seventies, hole photographs familiar from many books and calendars reveal a world of silence, and the current works - long-term exposures of up to one year - testify in their spiritual dimension to completely new paths. The event begins with a short lecture.

The artist Volkmar Herre, who now lives in Stralsund, was born in Freiberg, Saxony, in 1943. From 1963 to 1968 he studied photography at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. His freelance work began in 1970. Landscape and nature studies on the island of Rügen form a focal point of his work. Since 1997 he has been engaged in lensless photography in various facets and since 2014 he has produced so-called "Herrographies" - recordings of light lasting up to one year. In addition to numerous exhibitions at home and abroad, Edition Herre's publications since 1996 have reflected its artistic positions.
